The first Tarot-cards arose as precursors of our contemporary playing cards in the fifteenth century in Italy. In the course of the years
many other Tarot spreads still emerged. All different versions of the Tarot contain seventy-eight cards which are divided into four sets: wands, cups, swords and coins, or Pentakel, in total called the "Small
Arkana", and the twenty-two trumps, that are known as the "Large Arkana".
Our Tarot Software is based exclusively upon the best known Tarot deck: the Tarot of Arthur Edward Waite, whose spread appeared in
the year 1910. The greatest change which Waite and the artist Pamela Colman Smith introduced consisted in graphical representation of the cards of the Small Arkana, too. All the former,
and many later, Tarot-versions had only simple geometrical models of the Small Arkana and their interpretations had to be learned by heart.Nowadays one sees Tarot as one of the wide-spread means
of the prophecy. Naturally, many people do not accept Tarot seriously just because they believe that all forms and means of the prophecy lack every reasonable basis. Such people encounter the Tarot with the
prejudices that are very much spread in our culture and rooted deeply in it.
These prejudices have their origin in the occidental dualism which could assert itself constantly since Plato and Aristotle as a most
basic philosophy of life. According to this dualism everything, the whole reality, is split into two opposite poles: there is a spirit and the matter which is opposing it, a good which is opposed by the
evil, a death and life. Every event is understood as a result of another event, every effect must consequently have a specific cause. This, basically Aristotelian, logic has persisted in the course
of the centuries as a powerful tool of the occidental scientific and technical progress. But it has also some essential limitations, particularly if applied on the intellectual level as an only valid model of the
interpretation of life. In the latest time traditional philosophical and scientific thought models of the dualism are strongly shaken. An integrated philosophy of life is developed under the term of the Holism.
One doesn’t attempt to understand all events in the concept of the cause and effect
any more, but rather to see them as elements of a contiguous reality in which the things are mutually connected. In the confrontation with the problems of the everyday life the classical logic helps a little.
For example, one tries to reach the hidden elements of the truth from the world of the symbols or from the unconscious and to join
them in very promising interpretation. It is presumably possible to use the Tarot-spread as one of the most powerful means of the prophecy. Its symbols have a universal meaning, its pictures are
corresponding the phases of the routine life of every human being. If one rejects the traditionally scientific declaration which is based on the relationship of the cause and effect, and orientates oneself
onto graphic analogies, there is hardly better interpretation alternative of all the difficult questions which the life poses us and which we would like to pose it. Our tarot software helps you to work out your own
interpretation of all difficult life issues!
